What is the Res?

The Res is a youth and nature preserve located on the east side of Mishawaka, Indiana.  Originally founded in 1920 as a Boy Scout Reservation, “The Res” is now owned by the non-profit organization, The reservation of the Res, Inc.

The Res is a sanctuary not only for the flora and fauna that thrive here, but also for everyone who leave their hectic lives to enjoy The Res’ tranquility and beauty.  Surrounded by urban uses, the heavily wooded grounds are habitat to a wide variety of birds, animals and wild flowers.

Come visit us!  Let The Res embrace you with its beauty, sounds and smells.  Let your mind rest and listen to the murmurs of the creek and the whispers of the wind through the pines.

 Our Mission

The Res is dedicated to the preservation of a natural place where outdoor education and recreation work side by side to establish an outdoor ethic in our community, especially among our youth, to enhance the wonders of nature in us all.  In other words, “Where Recreation and Education Meet Nature.”
