Despite the mess and changes that have happened near us due to Capital Avenue construction work The Res is still here! This is the current view looking down Scout Lane towards The Res entrance off Capital Ave. Look for the yellow arrow at the end of Scout Lane and come for a walk!

If you have driven on Capital Ave near Lincoln Way recently you know how many changes have been going on. The utility companies are working in the area to prepare for Capital Avenue expansion. Sadly, many trees have been taken down in the past week. Due to the construction activities The Res sign and Scout Lane sign are no longer in the ground. We have tried to put The Res sign up on weekends in a bucket of sand, but that isn’t working very well. We apologize for the mess and the confusion. The best way to find Scout Lane now is to look across the street from Stephen’s Body shop between York and 5th St. on Capital Ave. At some point in the future our access will change and we will get to The Res off Lincoln Way and Kline Street.

The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County has awareded The Res a $30,000 Challenge Grant to assist us in extending City of Mishawaka water and sewer onto The Res. We need to raise $70,000 to have access to the Foundation’s grant, as the total cost of the project is estimated to be $100,000. To help The Res achieve this goal, the Community Foundation with accept annual pledges up to five years in addition to one-time cash donations towards the project. Many thanks to the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County! If you would like to help us with the project you can download a pledge form on the Donate page of this site. We appreciate any support you can give us!

Trees are $20. On weekends we have people available to cut trees and help load them onto your car. Saturdays 9-3pm and Sundays noon-3pm. We’ve sold out the last two years, so come get your tree soon! Here are a few photos from Saturday! Merry Christmas!

Boy scouts and high school students helped clean up leaves at The Res on a recent sunny Saturday in November. There is always work to be done on the grounds and our Ranger team gets help from volunteer groups and monthly workdays with board members. There is always more work to be done. If you have special skills or time to spare and want to help out, please contact Ranger Dave at dl.norris@sbcglobal.net

Please check out our new newsletter! We hope to put one out quarterly. If you would like to receive our newsletter and Res updates via e-mail please let us know! E-mail your contact information to dl.norris@sbcglobal.net

The pair of hawks are back nesting in The Res this year. We’ve seen a few displays of large crows pestering the hawks. It is quite the noisy scene!
