The Mishawaka Res is seeking a Ranger to help fulfill the mission of The Res, where nature and education meet. The Res is a 23-acre nature preserve on the east side of Mishawaka with multiple buildings, outdoor facilities, walking trails, and creek. The Ranger lives on-site (housing included in addition to salary) and serves as the primary customer service, maintenance, and custodial representative. JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Ranger is the on-site coordinator and caretaker of The Res, its 23-acre property, and all facilities, programs, and rentals.
- Performs general maintenance and repair work, including such activities as carpentry, painting, and light electrical and plumbing on buildings, equipment, and facilities.
- Coordinates with prospective and active rental customers, coordinates payments, prepares and cleans venue for events, and ensures facilities are open and available for rental customers.
- Maintain the grounds and property, such as mowing, leaf and snow removal, pruning trees, and cultivating flower beds.
- Serves as the primary customer service representative of The Res to visitors and guests, including answering phone and email inquiries, providing assistance where needed, and other duties as assigned.
The Ranger reports to the board of directors for The Res and provides input and advice to the board to ensure responsible management of the property, facilities, and programs.
This position is a salaried, one-year limited term position, with the option at discretion of the board of directors, to renew each year. In addition to the salary, the Ranger receives on-site housing with utilities.
